Friedrichshafen airport is a little known gateway to over 50 well known ski resorts in the northern Alps including Ischgl, St Anton, Obergurgl and Soelden.  Some ski resorts are as little as 45 min transfer time away from the airport.

No surprise that there are a number of airlines and a handful of Friedrichshafen airport transfer operators competing for your business, offering both private and shared transfer options.  It really is a quick way to the get skiing in the Alps.  Standsted  to St Anton can be as little as a 3 hour journey, using a private ski transfer or hiring a rental car.  Trains offer a viable, low cost alternative for some resorts but they tend to take longer to get you to the resort. The hassle factor is getting from the airport to Friedrichshafen departure  train station and from destination train station to ski resort.

I have managed three cheap ski trips to Ischgl, St Anton and Lech during the 2007/2008 season, four days each and managed to do this on a budget of less than £400 all in hiring a care. If I had gone for a shared airport transfer or train I would have spent even less.
